Three Clutha Vases

Designed by Christopher Dresser, 1834-1904

James Couper & Sons, Glasgow

mid-1890s

Left: "Solifleur" vase of translucent green with white markings, 7 1/4 inches

Middle: Vase with pale green tint with red striations and inset silver foil, 16 3/4 inches high

Right: vase with propeller body of pale green tint with adventure marking, 11 1/4 inches.

The first two have acid-etched on base: "Clutha designed by CD. Registered"

The Fine Art Society, London, has most generously given its permission to use information, images, and text from its catalogues in the Victorian Web, and this generosity has led to the creation of hundreds and hundreds of the site's most valuable documents on painting, drawing, sculpture, furniture, textiles, ceramics, glass, metalwork, and the people who created them.
