Wallis Mackay (1852-1907)
The Snowdrop Papers by Emily Wallis Mackay (1877)
Mackay illustrated a variety of books, including children's stories by his wife Emily, who he married in 1874. This collection is actually said to be by "Messrs. Tit, Tinkle, Pippin, Pop, Perry, Winkel and Cherry Blossom. Edited by Sir Florizel Bluebell, etc." The elf reading from the toadstool seems to be wearing glasses, and his elfin audience looks terribly bored!
