Heading to the Introduction by Edmund J. Sullivan. 1898. Page vii. Scanned image and text by George P. Landow. [This image may be used without prior permission for any scholarly or educational purpose.]
Since this header illustration accompanies Sullivan's own introduction, which he addresses to a Dr. John Colborne of Hastings, the man depicted is apparently Sullivan himself. Note his inkwell in the shape of the earth.
