A fine Summer Evening Illustrator: William Makepeace Thackeray Illustration to Chapter 62, Thackeray's Vanity Fair ...[Dobbin] admired the drawings of the goodnatured little artist [Emma], who sate upon steamers' decks and drew crags and castles, or she mounted upon donkeys and ascended into ancient robber-towers, attended by her two aides-de-camp, Georgy and Dobbin. (This illustration is interesting in the sense that the background is exactly what Emma is drawing.) Image scanned by Gerald Ajam and captions by Tiaw Kay Siang and Sabrina Lim. |
