Sterne, parodying the jargon of art critics, speaks of "the corregiescity of Correggio" in Tristram Shandy (Bk. 111, chap. 12). Hazlitt quotes the phrase in his essay on "English Students at Rome"; see The Complete Works of William Hazlitt, ed. P. P. Howe (London: J. M. Dent and Sons, 1933), XVII, 139.
