Rudyard Kipling and some of his most famous creations
Cyrus Cuneo (1879-1916)
Source: Hopkins, frontispiece
In his preface, R. Thurston Hopkins thanks the editor of the Illustrated London News for permitting him "to use the drawing by Mr. Cuneo, of which he holds the copyright" (viii). It begs comparison with several depictions of Dickens and His Characters after his death, and suggests that Kipling too was a household when he died.
