In his 20 March 1841 letter to Jane Carlyle, Thackeray remarked: "Yellowplush's republication has been delayed by the accursed dilatoriness & clumsiness of the copper-plate printers here, who spoiled half the work that I was obliged to do again" (Harden, Carlyles, p. 170).
