1845 Edition of The Irish Sketch-Book - A Reissue

Note 28 to Chapter 2 of the author's Pegasus in Harness: Victorian Publishing and W. M. Thackeray, which University Press of Virginia published in 1992. It has been included in the Victorian Web with the kind permission of the author, who of course retains copyright.

I thank Mr. Nicolas Barker for confirming, by examining the two copies at the British Library, that the "1845 edition" of The Irish Sketch-Book is merely a reissue of the 1843 sheets with canceled tide pages. I have seen two other privately owned copies that indicate the same.
