Scenery en route to Shimla, with agricultural terraces and a temple
Christ Church, on the Ridge above the Mall, can be seen top right, while the new roof of the town hall can be seen in the middle of the skyline, just past the pointed roof of the bandstand. Below the Mall, in turn, lies the Lower Bazar. Life in Imperial Simla was geographically as well as socially stratified.
