Mary and Martha (of Bethany)
Sir Edward Burne-Jones (1833-1898)
Morris & Co.
North porch, east side
The window is inscribed "mary eliza shaw at rest 8 april 1897." Could this have been a relation of the architect? At any rate, here was someone remembered for the virtues, both domestic and spiritual, that the two New Testament sisters represent between them.
Photograph taken and kindly sent in by Michael Critchlow, who described the window's location in the church. Text by Jacqueline Banerjee.
