Poultry in a Landscape

Barn Door Fowl (Rhode Island Reds) by William Huggins. Signed and dated 1856. Finished landscape by Bond Oil on artist's millboard: 12 1/4 x 16 inches, 31 x 40.5 centimetres. A rare Liverpool Pre-Raphaelite painting combining the talents of a senior member of the Liverpool School with its youngest member. Huggins has painted a favourite subject, poultry, and Bond, the landscape.
