In the Wood

Attributed to Edmund George Warren, RI, ROI 1834-1909

Oil on canvas.

18 x 14 inches

Warren came from a family of watercolourists who specialised in woodland subjects, but he also painted in oils, enjoying light filtering through vaults of leaves to the forest floor. He was influenced by Richard Redgrave, and admired by Ruskin.
