A Study of Flowers

A Study of Flowers by Emily Stannard, 1803-85. Oil on canvas, 4 x 81/2 inches. According to Rupert Maas, "Emily Coppin, daughter of the collector Daniel Coppin, married Joseph Stannard, a well known artist who died young. When a young woman she was awarded medals in the Society of Arts for her still-lifes, carefully painted in brilliant colours in the manner of the Dutch school." — Rupert Maas
