Here is John Henry Newman as a sensitive young man, three-quarter face rather than profile, which is proably the best angle in view of his rather sharp features, looking radiantly forward. He had already withdrawn from Anglican life, and would be received into the Catholic Church on October 9 of the following year (1845). He would then be ordained to the priesthood.
