This satire on the 1893 Royal Academy exhibition by the artist who created some of the magazine’s most powerful political cartoons contains parodies of paintings by Watts, Herkomer, Wood, Stone, and others. The painting by Watts entitled “Professor Endymion in His Great Spinning Trick” comments upon not only his Endymion but other works with an circular area of spirituality, such as Progress (image).
