Queen Victoria
Sir Joseph Edgar Boehm Bart., R.A. (1834-90)
1887
Bronze, on a red Aberdeen granite base
At the foot of Castle Hill, Windsor
The statue was commissioned for this prominent position as part of the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations. It was paid for by public subscription, and unveiled with much pomp and ceremony on 22 June 1887, with the Queen herself in attendance. See here for a contemporary picture of the occasion. A canopy was erected over the statue for the Diamond Jubilee.
