This reduced version of the bronze equestrian statue exhited at the Royal Academy in 1904 was cast posthumously. The sculptor began a colossal equestrian statue of Hugh Lupus in 1870, completing it eleven years later. He continued this theme in Physical Energy, which was erected in Kensington Gardens, 1908. — British Sculpture 1850-1914, p. 35
