A barn of a church (see Cherry and Pevsner 245), Christ Church was declared redundant in 1987, and partly demolished. The remainder was converted into a community centre. However, the old part of the building still has a strong presence on this busy road, and indeed the Anglican parish church continues to conduct its services in an adjacent structure created on the site of the old church hall.
