Early Evening, Palace (or East) Pier, Brighton
Designer: R. St George Moore
1899
The main deck halls date from 1901.
One of the last seaside piers to be constructed in England, it cost £137,000 to build. The East Pier is about 1,700 feet long, 189 feet wide at its sea-end, and covers 2.5 acres. This is the original ironwork. Palace Pier has the biggest funfair on the South Coast, including its landmark Helter-Skelter.
