Smooth cloth binding in green.

W.H. Rogers.

1867

An elaborate cloth casing in Sherwood green.

9 x 6¾ inches

A striking design by Rogers, which imitates the style of Renaissance binding and includes – for extra appeal – a metal clasp. The spine is signed ‘WHR’. The book was issued in at least two variant casings (a mock leather finish, and an excessively elaborate one in cloth), and must have sold well.
