Binding for The Quiver

1869

Embossed blue publishers' cloth with elaborate gilt blocking

10¼ x 7 inches

An elaborate binding, unsigned, for the half-yearly issue of The Quiver. The luxurious design firmly locates the magazine in the domain of the leisure market – with no sense of the Evangelical fervour that motivated John Cassell’s original journal of 1861.
