J. H. Ewing's Jackanapes

This cover appears to depict the young orphan, nicknamed "Jackanapes," and his mother and father. The Union Jack that appears so prominently appropriately suggests the patriotism Ewing promotes. This is, after all, a tale for children in which both father and son die young in battle.
