‘Waiting for a Bite,’ 1874. Wood engraving drawn by Homer and engraved at Harper’s premises. 9 1/8 x 13¾ inches. Harper’s Weekly, XVIII (August 22, 1874): 693. Another of Homer’s idyllic scenes, with a group of boys engaged in fishing. This could be an English scene – but the landscape is distinctly American.
