St James the Less, St Simon, St Jude and St Matthias, by Clayton & Bell, installed c.1860 (Martin Harrison, in correspondence with the author). St James the Less and St Simon were in memory of people who died in 1860, and St Jude and St Matthais were installed in memory of people who died in 1859. This series of twelve lancet windows has progressed from the west of the north aisle in a uniform and dignified way, the scrolls held by each apostle moving on through the Apostle's Creed. St Jude's text, for example, reads "The Resurrection of the Body." These are the easternmost four of the twelve windows along this aisle of St Peter's, Bournemouth. As Simon Jenkins notes, the general effect of these windows is to give the north aisle the feel of "a superb corridor, like the arm of a cloister" (173).
