The Good Shepherd; Christ at the Door

Designer: Henry Stacy Marks

1858

St Matthias, Richmond

This window in St. Matthais, Richmond, was the earliest to be installed (see Eberhard), its installation having been noted in the London Daily News of 7 August 1858. It shows Jesus with a shepherd's crook amid sheep at the sheepfold, and (on the right) at what looks like a church door, pointing the way (no doubt, to salvation). These brilliantly coloured scenes are perfect in theme for a newly-built church.
