Dasha (Lady Haden)

Fancis Seymour Haden (1818-1910)

1858

Etching with Dry-point

3 3/4" x 5 1/8"

Source: Salaman, Plate 1

This is one of the earlier etchings which shows the influence of Whistler — not surprisingly, since the two were close at this time, and "would often etch in company" (Salaman 4). They were brothers-in-law: Haden's wife Dasha (Deborah) was Whistler's half-sister, whom he married in 1847.
