Executed circa 1880-1883 for the needlework panel worked by Frances Horner at Mells Church, Somerset and exhibited at the 5th Arts & Crafts Exhibition Society Exhibition 1896.

A gouache version is in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, inventory number: E.838-1973 (exhibited, Arts Council of Great Britain 1975, Edward Burne-Jones, (catalogue of the exhibition byJohn Christian), number 212, and Japan 1987, Burne-Jones and his Followers, (catalogue of the exhibition by John Christian), number 22 and reproduced in colour.
