Educated at the Liverpool School of Art, Violet Brunton studied woodcarving, miniature painting and book illustration, winning the County Palatine Scholarship and earning a place at the Royal College of Art in London. She was elected to the Royal Miniature Society. The Victoria & Albert Museum possesses an Ecclesiastical Bible (1927) and a collection of the world's best fairy tales, Silver Magic (1929), which are both illustrated by the artist.
