[Click on this picture to enlarge it.] British Listed Buildings site, which describes the monument as a “ Sandstone shield, renewed, with gilt lettering, behind a kerbed plot,” points out that “ Booth was the founder of the Salvation Army in 1878 and his wife is known as the 'mother' of the movement. Listed because of their supreme importance in the late Victorian development of non-conformity.”
