Billingsgate Fish Market

Billingsgate Fish Market. Designed by J. B. Bunning (1802-1863). 1849-53. (Bunning was the City Architect before Sir Horace Jones.) An Italian-revival building uncomfortably close, as Nicholas Bentley points out, to Osborne House, Queen Victoria's home on the Isle of Wight (p.53). This structure was later replaced by Jones's Billingsgate Market (1874-77).
