The Globe Tavern, London SW1. Henry Jarvis. 1872 Plaque. [Click on images to enlarge them.] A railway bridge appears behind the pub, and Southwark Cathedral is just out of view at the right. According to the pub's own plaque, its name was chosen under the mistaken belief that its site was on or near that of the Elizabethan theater of Shakespearean fame. It was, however, the location of two films, "Blue Ice starring Michael Caine & Bob Hoskins and more recently Bridget Jones' Diary."
