The Fishing House

Edmund Hort New

Photomechanical reproduction of a pen and ink drawing

6 x 3¾ inches

The Yellow Book 9 (April 1896): 27

E. H. New is best known for his architectural drawings, and this is an early example which deploys a close attention to detail in the manner of Pre-Raphaelitism. Hort also designed Art Nouveau book covers, which are far more experimental and up-to-date than his modest designs in black and white.
