Edward Linley Sambourne (1844-1910)
Punch (5 February 1881): 58
“Punch’s Fancy Portraits. — No. 17”
“Author of The Last Chronicles of Cicero” ‘O Rare for Anthony!’— Shakespeare”.
Sambourne’s caricature combine’s the novelist’s book on Cicero with his bestseller, The Last Chronicles of Barset. The spurs (at bottom right) may refer to Trollope’s love of fox hunting, scenes of which he includes in several novels.
