Chicago Burlington & Quincy Wedge Snow Plow no. 205065

The Chicago Burlington & Quincy converted a 45-foot flatcar to Wedge Snow Plow no. 205065 in 1929. The railroad used it for many years on the line between Sterling, Colorado, and Cheyenne, Wyoming. The Burlington Northern, successor to the Chicago Burlington & Quincy, donated it to the museum in 1972.

The Denver and Salt Lake Railroad workshops built the adjacent steel caboose in 1936, and it became the Denver and Rio Grandee Western 01391 in 1948. Retired in 1984, it was purchased by Daniel Quiat who placed it on long-trem loan to the museum.

I believe the car behind and to the right of the snowplow is the Denver and Rio Grande Western (narrow gauge) Railway Post Office car no. 60, which served Salida, Gunnison, Montrose, Durango, and Aklamosa, and other Colorado communities from 1899 to 1951 [GPL].
