oan Grant is an independent scholar. Her first degree was from Edinburgh University (1984). She later qualified as a solicitor. However, history is her passion. Her first book Women, Migration and Empire was published by Trentham Books in 1996; her latest, on the life and times of Jane Austen, will be published in September 2025.
