Left: Detail of St Martin and St Helena. Right: Whole window.

St Martin and St Helena, from designs by Sir Edward Burne-Jones (1833-1898). Made by Morris & Co., this window was installed in the west side of the north porch of Richard Norman Shaw's All Saints, Leek, mid-1890s. It shows both saints with the attributes associated with their legends. St Martin is in the act of cutting his own cloak to help clothe a beggar, and St Helena, the mother of the Emperor Constantine, holds the "True Cross" on which Jesus is believed to have been crucified and which she is said to have discovered. The window is inscribed: S. C. W. Eales. Priest At Rest Nov 15 1895."
