Here we have two works of art for the price of one: the pleasing original by Newton has become the subject of a fine stipple engraving by Holl. The sitter would have been of the highest class, and apparently, despite her feminine charms, of a studious or literary bent. The originals portraits of such sitters were apt to remain in private collections, but engravings of them might be found in art journals or collections.
