A Fun cartoonist used Leighton’s painting for an editorial cartoon. The most amazingly blasphemous (and tasteless) panel, which depicts a crucifixion, is labelled “The Butcheress Prime Joints Buy Buy” and in addition to the sign “Cats meat is cheap to-day” includes the numbers of works in the exhibition: 10[?], 25, and 159.
