Percy decides to surprise Nellie and sends her a silk scarf anonymously, but when they meet she tells him, “Oh, Percy, dear, I had a present sent me of a silk scarf. But such a horrible thing. The fellow who sent it must be a fearful snob!” Percy, we're told, didn't have a happy Christmas. One question, why does Nellie accuse the unknown sender of being a snob?
