“Mr. Joseph Sebag Montefiore is the heir of the late Sir Moses Montefiore, and lay chief of the Sephardi Jews. He is also Vice President of the Jewish Board of Deputies. In the local affairs of Kent he is an active worker, and this year he is serving the office of High Sheriff of the county” (604).
