Octavius Oakley (1800-1867)

1840

Watercolour

Source: Pearson, p. 93

"The painting by Oakley shows him to have been slim with fair hair, a high brow and large pale eyes. The mouth cannot have been portrayed accurately; a little later in life it was wide with thin lips, the upper protruding slightly over the lower. His dress in the portrait is typical of the undergraduate of the period" — Forrest, p. 20.
