This is a model of one of the eight allegorical figures carved in sandstone for the roof of Kelvingrove Art Gallery, Glasgow. The winning designs were chosen by open competition. For an account of the competition see Beattie, p. 94.

Especial thanks to the Fine Art Society, London was the very first commercial gallery or public institution to share it material with Victorian Web. The copyright on text and images from their catalogues remains, of course, with them. [GPL]
