Cloth binding for ‘Dalziels’ Illustrated Arabian Nights’ Entertainments’

[1870]

Blue cloth gilt

10½ x 7½ inches

This is a single volume reprint of a book [1870] first published in two volumes in 1865. A monumental work of wood engraving, with outstanding illustrations by A. B. Houghton, its appeal is cemented by the highly animated and charming cover by an unknown designer in which the main emphasis is on cosmological imagery; the crescent moon invokes the Islamic crescent while the stars suggest the exoticism and imaginative associations of the Oriental world.
