St John's Church

Meerut

1821

During church parade here on Sunday, 10 May 1857, the Sepoy Mutiny broke out. Afterwards troops, when were allowed to take their rifles into church, small apertures were carved into the wooden pews to enable them to be secured. St John’s is said to be the oldest church in north India.
