David Skilton, Emeritus Professor of English at Cardiff University, has written extensively on nineteenth-century English fiction, literary illustration, the art and literature of London, and anticipated ruins. His books include Anthony Trollope and His Contemporaries; a Study in the Theory and Conventions of Mid-Victorian Fiction, Defoe to the Victorians: Two Centuries of the English novel, and The Cambridge Companion to Anthony Trollope. He is also one of the editors of the Edinburgh Companion to Anthony Trollope.
