Honest Little Speculator, loq.: —“I’ll give you a share of the profits, Miss,if you’ll come and do that for me every morning.”

This cartoon, which obviously points to the way the long skirts worn by prosperous women swept up filth from the streets, ties in with the widespread Victorian concern discussed in Alison Matthews David’s Fashion Victims (2015) that such skirts brought dangerous filth into the home.
