Given” by Francis Charles Hastings Russell, 9th Duke of Bedford, 1883

It was a measure of John Francis's importance as a sculptor that he should have been asked to execute this bust of Russell, who was then Earl Grey's Paymaster General, and one of the four government members responsible for drafting the 1832 Reform Bill. Russell would later become Prime Minister.
