Source: Academy Architecture, which entitled the work “Der Gelbstsüchtige.” Der Selbstsüchtige would seem to mean either “the selfish one” or perhaps “the seeker of self.” Why does the man have his hand over the mouth of the sphinx, who traditionally questions one about human nature and self?
