A bare-headed officer mourns his lost comrades, with palm trees in the background. His shako lies by his feet. Behind him are listed the names of the seven officers and 303 NCOs and Privates of the 51st King's Own (Yorkshire) Light Infantry (KOLI) who died in Burma 1852-1853 (the Second Anglo-Burmese War). On the right hand side of the memorial is inscribed: "E.Richardson Sc, Melbury Terrace, London AD 1856"
