Menpes' later visit to Osaka in search of a special piece of wood for his wood-carvers gave him more opportunities for sketching not only sunsets over the waterways, but the picturesque bridges across them as well. These appear among the scenes of working life in his penultimate chapter, "Workers." — Jacqueline Banerjee
